At PWCS, we look at the homeless with Love. Their situation may not necessarily be a matter of addiction, whereby one might conclude that if they will get rid of their addictions and get a job, they should be back on their feet. Their situation may also not necessarily be a matter of laziness, for one to just decided to throw 50 cents at them. There is a myriad reasons for which people may be rendered homeless, and it is only when you interact with them and show them compassion that you get to know what their personal stories are. And after you have heard their stories, you will realize that you are not far from becoming like them. It is the grace of God that keeps us all one day at a time.
As a Bible believing ministry, which holds the teachings of Jesus very dearly, we react to the problem of homelessness, first by meeting their basic needs like food and clothing. Then we minister the word of God to them. The good thing though is that many have already given their lives to Jesus and all they need is a little push in life to get back on their feet. This requires money to accomplish. But in addition to those who are believers and mentally sound, there are those who are addicts, mentally ill, and most definitely those who might be lazy. However, as followers of our savior Jesus, we do not have the mind to blame or judge any of them for their homelessness. We are to care for them by providing them with clothing, food, shelter, and any kind of comfort that is feasible. The Bible also requires of us to attend to the sick and those in jail as well. These are clearly recorded in the teachings of our Lord Jesus –
Mathew 25:34-46.
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
We believe in bearing the pain, frustrations, the burdens of others. It is about being there for the homeless and that is what the scriptures describe as having and showing love for your fellow man. That is why we will go all the way to care for them.
It is for these reasons that you can also be part of our efforts to care for the homeless by partnering with us with your contributions. Your donations in any form towards caring for them will be appreciated. A donation of only 3 dollars could get one homeless person two meals in a day. It is our prayer that as you finish reading this message, you will be touched to give your widows mite to promote our course.
God bless you greatly.
